I have seen many unfortunate homeowners who are behind on their mortgage payments lose thousands of dollars, in some cases tens of thousands of dollars to unscrupulous attorneys. The main way attorneys steal from people in foreclosure is by charging exorbitant upfront fees and then stringing them along charging more and more fees as time goes on. The attorneys then don’t deliver on promises that they made to homeowners.
